Is there a setup fee?

What is credentialing, why is it required, and what is the process?

Credentialing enables HireRight to confirm that its subscribers are valid legal entities and that they will comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”) and other applicable laws. For example, we need to verify that your business does not share office space with another entity, that reasonable security controls are in place, and that there is proper business signage. This helps HireRight verify the presence of an ongoing business with a permissible purpose for obtaining consumer background report information and adequate security to protect said information.

STEP 1 Business Inspection

Why is this inspection performed?

The business inspection helps HireRight verify the presence of an ongoing business with a permissible purpose for obtaining consumer background report information, and that adequate security measures are in place to protect the background reports and the personal consumer information within those reports. Inspection is for purposes of verifying that:

Your business address is not shared with another entity (e.g., is not operating at a Regis Office, Executive Suite, or Virtual office) Shared Offices: If your business is sharing an office, please let your Sales Executive know immediately, as there are some situations that are ineligible to use our services, and others that require additional documentation. Your Sales Executive will be able to further discuss your options.
Reasonable security controls are in place to secure access to HireRight’s system and its background reports
Proper business signage exists (this may include taking pictures of your signage)

There are two options to complete the business inspection requirements. Please advise your sales representative of the option you would like to proceed with.

Truepic: This is a self-serve inspection. You will be sent a link via text message (or via email) asking you to download the photo documentation app to a mobile phone. You will follow the onscreen instructions to answer questions and upload photos, which will be sent back to HireRight.

Trendsource: By appointment, HireRight will have its approved and contracted third party provider, Trendsource, conduct a visit to your business premises. The inspector will come to your office, ask a list of questions, and take multiple photos.

STEP 2 Principal Credentialing

Certain data providers require that the principal of each customer be vetted as a condition of receiving the data provider’s data. No credit will be run. If you decline to provide the information about your principal so that HireRight can conduct this vetting, we will be unable to provide you with certain products – in particular, US employment verifications, that rely on receiving the data provider’s data.

Principal: which is a company owner or leader; at some corporations, the principal is also the founder, CEO, President, or even the chief investor.

STEP 3 Proof of Bonafide Business

What happens in this process?

Among other things, HireRight will verify with pre- approved third-party sources and/or local government entities that the business:

Is an active business, in good standing, and appropriately licensed, when applicable
Is providing products and services as disclosed on the HireRight application Why is this verification performed? This verification helps HireRight ensure that the businesses with which we conduct business will use HireRight’s background reports for proper, authorized.

STEP 4 Authorized Party Search

What happens in this process?

HireRight will verify that the business is not on an information provider’s and/or government prohibited party list due to industry type, previous unauthorized activity, etc.

Why is this review performed? This review helps HireRight ensure that it is compliant with its information-provider obligations and that its customers do not present a known information security risk or regulatory concern.
